Here are some news about the development of natural wine in the Centre area.
Those informations are extracted from BIO Centre magazine.
We dedicate this article to those who tell us that the organic and natural wine are just a fad!
In the last 5 years, the biological surfaces have almost tripled in France, which now represents 8.2% of the French vineyard
against 2.6% in 2007. France is the second organic winery in the European Union after Spain.
60% of our natural wines are sold on the French market.
The Centre area is the 8th organic wine area, or 10.5% of the vineyard area. Indre et Loire account alone,
1440 hectares of vineyards.
Areas remain small because of the manual labor. Farms have an area of between 5 and 15 ha.
The survey Bio Centre showed that 62% of growers employ labor full time. To this is added
the seasonal labor (size, budding, stalking and handpicking).
The survey only takes into account the organic viticulture. As you know, the « nature or organic » winemaker continues
this approach in his cellar. This means a careful selection of grapes, a manual press and a full times care.
